Fashion Fish goes green

The FASHION FISH outlet in Schönenwerd is expanding the photovoltaic system on the former Bally production halls by a further 664 m² in 2024. With this investment, the factory outlet in German-speaking Switzerland is underlining its commitment to sustainability.

With the expansion of the photovoltaic system by a further 335 modules on the shed roofs of the former Bally production halls in summer 2024, Fashion Fish is taking a big step towards a green future. "Under the motto "Fashion Fish goes GREEN", we are gradually switching to the use of sustainable energy. For example, Fashion Fish has been using district heating for years and solar energy to generate electricity since 2020," explains Robert Meier, Managing Director of Fashion Fish.

The first south-facing photovoltaic system was installed as part of the energy-efficient refurbishment of the shed roofs in spring 2020. Even then, high peak outputs were achieved. At the beginning of 2024, the system was expanded to include an east and west-facing section, which ensures an even power balance throughout the day. By the end of August 2024, the two photovoltaic systems had already generated more than 47 MWh of electricity. This corresponds to an output that could be generated by systems on 40 to 45 single-family homes.

Fashion Fish uses the energy generated directly and thus covers a large part of the energy required to operate the stores. Customers also benefit from this - for example in the summer months thanks to cooling ventilation in the center. "Thanks to the measures we have taken, we have been able to drastically reduce Fashion Fish's CO₂ emissions in recent years and offset the energy consumption of our air conditioning and ventilation systems with our own solar power," says Robert Meier.
